History: The first use of oregano was by the Greeks. Aphrodite introduced the herb by giving it to a man to make his life happier. Translated, oregano means the joy of the mountains.
Farming and harvesting: This perennial herb is harvested by simply snipping at the base of the leaves. It is then rinsed and laid out to dry, and new stems quickly replace the harvested ones.
Culinary applications: This spice is used in a wide array of savory dishes, most notably for Italian dishes.
