History: This pepper is one of the most popular peppers in the Western world. It has a unique spiciness to it that is adored in various dishes, usually in dried and crushed forms. It was discovered ages ago in French Guinea, and has since spread across the Western continents.
Farming and harvesting: Cayenne peppers come in green, and are sometimes picked then for a milder spice. But they don’t reach their true spice potential until they are deep red. They can be easily picked but are usually cut to avoid uprooting the whole plant.
Culinary applications: Cayenne peppers can be used to spice up just about any dish, but some favorites are in hispanic cuisines.
