History: Some historians suggest that caraway was a staple in the stone age. Greek physicians recommended using caraway for “pale faced girls”. It was placed under children’s beds in Germany to protect them from witches, and was used in love potions to prevent fickleness.
Farming and harvesting: Caraway is edible in many ways from the root to leaves, but seeds are harvested only when the plant is not dug up for the root, when the seeds turn dark brown.
